458077 2006-05-27 01:44:00 I renewed my sub for pc world and received some 80mm dia cds. My comp cd drive has a depression that will locate these smaller cds..... My car cd player:- You place a normal size cd in the slot, the mechanism grabs it, pulls it right inside and plays it.. My question. What happens if I insert one of these smaller discs. Can it still place it in the proper playing position?? gradebdan (2186)
458078 2006-05-27 02:13:00 I strongly suspect that it might be easier to get a mini-CD in the car drive than to remove it. :(

To get the height down, those drives don't have a carrier tray. The mini-CD will go in if you push it, but it won't reach the spindle, and it won't (can't) be ejected. It might entail dismantling the drive, which might entail dismantling the radio, which might entail dismantling the dashboard, which might entail dismantling the car. :badpc: I have an idea that the CD drives on Apple iBook laptops, and probably any other slinmline CD drives would be just the same.

I wouldn't risk it.

Thankyou for your reply.I know what it is like trying to remove a car radio from the dashboard so will not take a chance of any problems.

458080 2006-05-27 08:13:00 Don't they have mini CD tray on any CD player? All my computers CD Rom have that. It is in the centre of the tray. MTLance (6768)

Read the posts though MTLance, the discussion is on car CD players which generally don't have "trays". Post one is abundantly clear to me?

458082 2006-05-27 08:19:00 On that's weird never use CD players in car except use notebook on the outside enviroment or in a car. MTLance (6768)
458083 2006-05-27 11:10:00 It's not "weird", as stated there just ain't the room in a DIN based car stereo to accommodate a full tray assembly. There is just a slot. godfather (25)
458084 2006-05-27 12:08:00 i guess if u're real desperate you can just reburn ur little cd into a full size one and play that.. heni72847 (1166)
