After booting into the recovery console from the Windows XP Setup CD. Type these commands. C: CD .. C: ATTRIB H C: \boot.ini C: ATTRIB S C: \boot.ini C: ATTRIB R C: \boot.ini C: del boot.ini C: BOOTCFG /Rebuild C: CHKDSK /R /F C: FIXBOOT I suppose you could do ATTRIB -H -S -R C: \boot.ini and save a couple steps. Still something to consider, next time you get the error. |

| 457515 | 2006-05-25 01:42:00 | It is also important to figure out why they are getting corrupt files/registry. I haven't seen windows XP blow up in such a way for ages. Usually due to faulty ram, hard drive that is dying, unexcepted shutdowns due to dying power supply or motherboard or some sort of malware. If you don't fix the underlying cause, the error will just resurface.. |
