| 458726 | 2006-05-29 04:45:00 | Hi Folks, Anyone good at getting hands on inside a scanner? My scanner stopped working. The light bar no longer moves along the bed. I have checked the transit switch and the light bar is still stuck whether the switch is up or down. I would kind of like to fix it, but I'm nervous about wrecking it completely once I've got it open. Does anyone know of anything I should look out for in particular? Any advice gratefully received. I have opened mine and carefully moved the rail back taking the place of the un-powered motor by turning the correctly chosen gears in the correct direction, don't get dust and rubbish inside and clean your hands so as to not mark up the bed. This happens on HP"s because of a driver fault, once it does you need to return the rail back to rest position before the computer can find the scanner again. Be careful and don't force anything, use your common sense. |
