458420 2006-05-28 03:09:00 Couldn't install Photoshop 7 on this notebook. Installation process stops at

"Adobe Photoshop 7.0 setup is preparing the Installshield Wizard which will guide you through the rest of the setup process. Please wait .... 99%"

It just hang there (at 99%) and refuses to go any further. Tried copy the CD to HDD and install from there but doesn't either.

Tried to install it to another PC without any problem. I therefore rule out CD problems.

Any suggestions, please.

458421 2006-05-28 03:14:00 Is it just that you are being impatient? :P

Make sure that your HDD, memory and CPU have capability to cope with the resource-hungry application.

Cheers :)

458422 2006-05-28 03:15:00 Use something like ccleaner and run it. So it'll clean the temp files etc off the system. Speedy Gonzales (78)

Tried to install to a much slower PC - PII 512 MB RAM without problem; where as this notebook has 1 GB RAM with Intel Centrino Duo core 1.8 cpu stops at 99%. waited for 15 minutes still refuses to go!

Speedy, you mean run the installation from Ccleaner? Haven't tried that before. Going to try it later.

Thanks

458425 2006-05-28 03:31:00 Speedy, just have a quick look at Ccleaner, I can only see the Uninstall utility but not the Install utility.

How do I go about?

Cheers

458426 2006-05-28 03:39:00 Ah no, run ccleaner and click on run cleaner.

So it removes the temp files. Then try and reinstall Photoshop.

458427 2006-05-28 04:33:00 Run Ccleaner and tried to install again but still no go. Something must be blocking the installation process behind the scene.

Anyone out there ever come across similar problem?

Cheers

458428 2006-05-28 04:39:00 Hmmm, perhaps over-sensitive real-time monitoring software (e.g. ZoneAlarm Security Suite if you had improperly configured it)?

I suppose it does no harm to post a HJT log onto here?

Cheers :)

458429 2006-05-28 04:46:00 The computer you're trying to install it on maybe too modern or geeky for it.

Or Photoshop is recognising that it supports duo core, which Photoshop 7 may not support?
