| 458382 | 2006-05-27 21:00:00 | Hi, My brother is young and he has recently clicked on one of those links in MSN from a friend that has already been affected where it says something like: 'Get the best MSN screennames on this site: www.blah blah.com' I do not know if I have got the virus, but it doesnt look like it. Can someone give me some information on these links that spread? Do they instantly activate Viruses on your PC if you click on it? Or do you have to click on more stuff for it to activate viruses or spyware? I have done a Hijackthis Log. Do Hijackthis Logs identify Viruses as well? Can someone just check this Log for me, because I am getting worried about this link my brother clicked on. Anyways, here is the Log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 20:48:33, on 27/05/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Intel\Wireless\Bin\EvtEng.exe C:\Program Files\Intel\Wireless\Bin\S24EvMon.exe C:\Program Files\Intel\Wireless\Bin\WLKeeper.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgamsvr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgupsvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgemc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgfwsrv.exe C:\Program Files\IVT Corporation\BlueSoleil\BTNtService.exe C:\Program Files\Network Associates\McAfee Desktop Firewall for Windows XP\FireSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Dell\NICCONFIGSVC\NICCONFIGSVC.exe C:\Program Files\Intel\Wireless\Bin\RegSrvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\Program Files\Intel\Wireless\Bin\ZcfgSvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Intel\Wireless\Bin\1XConfig.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Apoint\Apoint.exe C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe C:\Program Files\Intel\Wireless\Bin\ifrmewrk.exe C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\DVDLauncher.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework\UpdaterUI.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Network Associates\TalkBack\TBMon.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe C:\Program Files\HP\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd.exe C:\Program Files\Apoint\Apntex.exe C:\Program Files\HP\hpcoretech\hpcmpmgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgcc.exe C:\WINDOWS\tsnp2std.exe C:\WINDOWS\vsnp2std.exe C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe C:\Program Files\Dell Support\DSAgnt.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Program Files\Digital Line Detect\DLG.exe C:\Program Files\Network Associates\McAfee Desktop Firewall for Windows XP\FireTray.exe C:\Program Files\HP\hpcoretech\comp\hptskmgr.exe C:\Program Files\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = www.dell.co.uk R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = bfc.myway.com R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = www.dell.co.uk R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = www.dell.co.uk R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = www.dell.co.uk R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {4D25F926-B9FE-4682-BF72-8AB8210D6D75} - (no file) O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - C:\PROGRA~1\SPYBOT~1\SDHelper.dll O2 - BHO: DriveLetterAccess - {5CA3D70E-1895-11CF-8E15-001234567890} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswshx.dll O2 - BHO: Google Toolbar Helper - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar2.dll O2 - BHO: MSNToolBandBHO - {BDBD1DAD-C946-4A17-ADC1-64B5B4FF55D0} - C:\Program Files\MSN Apps\MSN Toolbar\MSN Toolbar\01.02.5000.1021\en-gb\msntb.dll O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file) O3 - Toolbar: MSN - {BDAD1DAD-C946-4A17-ADC1-64B5B4FF55D0} - C:\Program Files\MSN Apps\MSN Toolbar\MSN Toolbar\01.02.5000.1021\en-gb\msntb.dll O3 - Toolbar: Yahoo! | 458383 | 2006-05-27 21:22:00 | Is there a digital camera connected / and software for it on this computer? Boot into safe mode, run hijackthis again tick these entries and tick fix checked. None of these entries are nasty tho. Uninstall one. They'll clash with each other. Not a good idea running more than 1 firewall. Altho these entries look like they belong to AVG, not too sure if its ok for them to remain. Leave these entries alone for now. It may screw things up. if u remove them. | 458384 | 2006-05-27 21:38:00 | Hi Speedy, What do U mean by: 'Run these Manually'? And, I have already uninstalled Mcafee, I dont know why there are still remains. Thanks |

| 458385 | 2006-05-27 22:16:00 | I mean instead of them running on startup, click on their icon, to run them, or drag their icon to the quicklaunch bar, to make it easier for you to run them. Has this PC got a digital cam? |

| 458386 | 2006-05-27 22:17:00 | Hi Speedy, What do U mean by: 'Run these Manually'? Hi. I think Speedy meant that you disable the programs that he had mentioned from being run automatically every time you start your computer (i.e. remove them from startup folder or change the programs' running setting in services.msc). Cheers :) |
