458329 2006-05-27 19:16:00 Whatever it is, it doesnt sound too good.

Time to replace the hdd, by the sounds of it.

Unless he's/she's riddled with malware.

Which can bring up disk errors on bootup.

Clicks? Take the lid off for a start and listen. HDD death from the sound of it.
Attach the HDD to your PC and see if you can access it at all.

458332 2006-05-27 23:07:00 About now I would be contacting Metla (since I know ya both in same area) and asking if he can ghost the drive (precautionary)

Does sound like the harddrives giving up the ghost, and I wouldnt keep booting it up as the time left sounds limited

Or you can return it to where he had it built

458333 2006-05-27 23:26:00 Not sure about this pokemon game but I’ve seen the odd game that has caused the computer to seek the floppy disk drive on start-up and it is actually the Floppy drive that is making a hell of a noise. (because there's nothing in it) Once you restart all is well. :)

Just a thought given the age of the computer.

However, if your convinced the noise is coming from the HDD, then a warrenty claim would seem in order. ;)

458337 2006-05-30 03:29:00 beetle, have you considered that it may have died simply by a distant association with you...?

I watched a program on "SLIders" the other night.

Thought of you beetle, but instead of having a mysterious and unexplained effect on Streetlights, perhaps you only affect computers?
