2006-05-30 04:18:00 Hi All, I need a bit of help with my AVG running on XP home, I've been running avg for years with no trouble that is up to last week when all my attachments and every think else in my e-mails went missing. I turned the e-mail scanner off and my e-mails are all normal again, I haven't touched any settings on avg, it just started doing this. :help: mick (6883)
2006-05-30 06:40:00 What meakes you think this has anything to do with AVG? Master_Frost (9951)
2006-05-30 09:23:00 As I said when avg mail scanner is switched off my e-mails are all there, as soon as I switch it back on e-mails are empty  mick (6883)
2006-05-30 09:35:00 I'm having the same trouble with AVG and Outlook Express but my Yahoo mail is fine. Like you I have to switch AVG off to get emails. Clod (7853)
2006-05-30 09:46:00 Iwould be checking in Outlook Express to make sure something hasn't turned on harsher security settings. Go to "tools, Options, Security,' and check that the message 'do not allow attachments or messages that could potentially be a virus' isn't ticked. Other than that go to the AVG website to see if any of the updates could be causing this problem.

I have just checked my OE and even with the latest avg update, I can access my mail, with attachments. Clod, it is sort of defeating the purpose turning off the avg mail scanner to get mail. I know I had headaches one install, but it was cause I had some of my settings wrong.

2006-05-30 10:04:00 If it is settings within OE, it could very well be due to windows updates changing your settings SolMiester (139)
2006-05-30 22:44:00 Do you use IMAP or POP? If IMAP, could AVG be blocking access to the server? Erayd (23)
2006-05-30 23:22:00 The usual cause is an AVG update changes the program enough to cause a firewall like ZoneAlarm to stop allowing AVG access to the internet. PaulD (232)
2006-05-31 06:37:00 Sorry I didn't say, I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird but I have tried OE and had the same trouble and I only use the XP firewall. mick (6883)
2006-05-31 12:14:00 ??? Never use AVG anti-spam. Can anyone explain what anti-spams means? MTLance (6768)
