458930 2006-05-29 22:47:00 I have WinXP, and the dreaded Norton System Works 2004. Sometimes on booting I get a warning from windows security centre saying that "Your computer may be at risk, Norton AV reports it is not active" (or words to that effect). When I check norton it is active. What is the problem & how do I fix it?

458931 2006-05-29 23:06:00 It's either the security centre doesnt detect that the AV is installed (it doesn't detect all AV programs).

Or Systemworks may need updating. (if there's an update for it).

Or click on change the way security centre alerts me. And untick virus protection. It wont tell you the AV isnt active.

Well, if u think its dreaded, why use it?

Install something like AVG, Avast, or something else.

458932 2006-05-29 23:07:00 The problem is that the Windows Security Centre is loaded before Nortons has had a chance to finish loading so it thinks that it is not active.
Don't know if there is anything you can do about it. It's just annoying because, like you said, by the time you check Nortons has finished loading and is active.
