459304 2006-05-31 03:08:00 so i left my comp on for a couple of days on accident due to company and when i got back on it i had a lil pop up in the bottom right corner telling me that i was running low on virtual memory or something close to that.. it also said that it was creating more by doing something.. but what i was wondering if this happens when you leave your computer on to long or if i have some type of spyware thing thats causing this.. and if there is any thing to do to stop this.. i dont think its affecting my computer at all.. its just not nice to see something like that.. thanks in advance for any help on this bpc575 (9791)
459305 2006-05-31 03:28:00 My virtual memory is 768MB. Not sure what the ideal is butyou can check it by...

Right click My Computer> Properties> Advanced tab>
in the performance box click "settings"
then click on "Advanced" tab and your vitrual memory settings will be at bottom.

You might just need to run a program like "Ccleaner" to clear out the clutter.

459306 2006-05-31 05:19:00 Virtual Memory is when it uses C: (by default) as virtual ram. You normally get warnings when the partition is getting too full. pctek (84)

You normally get warnings when the partition is getting too full.Or if something on your system has a memory leak. Then it doesn't matter how much space you have allocated to the pagefile, eventually it'll still fill up. Erayd (23)
459308 2006-05-31 08:22:00 i cerainly would check what program you have running in the background.

however it could simply be that you have set a small virtual memory and a scheduled program has started (ie AV scan).

459310 2006-06-01 06:38:00 Yes, a good clean shouldn't do it any harm. Nyuuji (5460)

it all depends on how much ram you have.

whats the "recommended minimum" ammount it says to have? (i assume you have 2k/xp)
