458909 2006-05-29 13:02:00 Greetings and welcome to PressF1 :)

Have you checked through your computer using anti-malware utilities besides those that you have mentioned? Have you read through PressF1's FAQ on removing virus etc.? -> pressf1.pcworld.co.nz 16

Besides this, do you have a firewall on your computer? Are you on dial-up or broadband Internet? Are you in NZ :P ?

Cheers :)

458910 2006-05-29 13:09:00 Have you defragged HDD recently, how much free space on HDD, how much RAM do you have, Firefox is RAM hungry. Some of the extensions available for Firefox can cause slow startups how many extensions do you have? What Operating System are you using? How fast is your CPU? zqwerty (97)
458911 2006-05-29 13:16:00 Thankyou James,
I have got Zonealarm running, i am on ADSL, and i am in Australia.
I will try the online virus [ trendmicro ] and see what that brings up, thanks for the suggestions.
thanks,
very much appreciated.

458912 2006-05-29 13:25:00 Ah, that eliminates out the possibility of highly unstable Internet connection provided by our New Zealand's Telecom :P

On the other hand, you might want to post us a HijackThis log. To do so, follow the instructions below (brought to you by Speedy_Gonzales):

"Get HijackThis (www.merijn.org) from here (www.spywareinfo.com)

Unzip this file, then run it and click on scan and save a log. Copy and paste the log back in the forum."

For log analysis, have a look at my signature.

Cheers :)

458913 2006-05-29 13:27:00 Hi,
No i haven't defraged in a while, thanks for reminding me, didn't even think of defrag as being as possability.
I tried Internet exployer for a speed comparison and that was the excact same deal, slow as.
I have a Pent-4, 3.00 ghz, 2x 500mb ram, she normally runs well.

458915 2006-05-29 14:05:00 That setup should be wickedly fast, check Task Manager (ctrl+alt+delete) when everything is up and running and you are browsing and see what is using Ram and where the Cpu cycles are being used. System Idle should be predominant, on my system with Firefox going and all the other things needed to run safely on the internet, I am using about 280 Meg Ram and Cpu is mostly 99% System Idle, Firefox is using 60 Meg Ram. I have 29 processes showing, there are more hidden in the background that do not show on Task Manager. zqwerty (97)
