| 460040 | 2006-06-02 09:44:00 | i have a larger hard drive which i have installed a legal copy of windows onto and started shifting information from my old drive over to it, i havent booted the new drive up for a few weeks as i have been slowly moving 4 yrs of info over and went to boot it tonight and it loads to the log in screen when i click on the name and put in the password it comes up with it will need to be activated, so i click ok to activate now then it goes to another screen "this product is already activated" then proceeds to log me out when i try to log back in it gives me the same info all over again, is there any way to get past this? earlier while in my old drive (had the two connected as master/slave) i got a virus alert trogan virus on my new drive the file was called main.exe which it moved to the virus vault and is no longer on the drive would this stop it from logging in? and should i find a way to duplicate that file? it was just in c:/ have googled this and find no help, thanks | lisamarie01 (6731) | ||
| 460041 | 2006-06-02 10:24:00 | You will have to ring microsoft every time you reinstall. I had the activated too many times problem & once I got to talk to a human, I got it all sorted out. They ask you why you need to activate it again, but I don't think it really makes any difference what answer you give. That computer is now running Ubuntu linux because windows didn't like me changing my hardware too much & installing ubuntu was less hassle than re-activating windows. My pirated windows install was much less annoying than my legal one. |
