459968 2006-06-02 05:48:00 I am thinking of setting up a few computers in a home environment through a server system, whereby one PC is used as a dedicated server. I know some advantages of having a dedicated server eg, files & printer sharing, firewall etc. However is it possible to install application softwares (NOT OS) in the server and have the other PC accessing through the system. The idea is to save cost of not having to purchase individual softwares (eg Adode 7) for each computers. Comments welcome. ephesus (2509)
459969 2006-06-02 09:02:00 Licences do not usually work like that - if you install a network application once but say 4 computers are using it, then you pay 4 licences. johnd (85)

Thanks. So it will still be more economical to install application at server level and pay licence fees for using it on the 4 PCs than to buy/install 4 separate applications. Is this correct?
