| 459442 | 2006-05-31 08:54:00 | Never used a DVD R before; any recommendation for a reliable brand? My DVD recorder is : DVDW TS-L52M -- came with my Asus Notebook. Are all types of DVD R compatible with this DVD recorder? Is there any thing I should pay special attention to when buying DVD Rs? Cheers |

Cheers Dont know about multi-session with DVD, (never tried it with DVD, only CD), but I guess it should work, if u use something like Nero. But once they're full, you cant format them / erase them. You need DVDRW's for this. |

| 459449 | 2006-05-31 10:36:00 | I have had problems with skipping files and pauses and eventually the disc will seize up when using Princos and other cheap media on a couple of different stand alone dvd players (Samsung and Pioneer included). I have had no problems with Imation but they are a step down in quality for a similar price compared to Verbatim which are A class media according to: www.digitalfaq.com The last 100 blanks I bought were Verbatim DVD+R which have an MCC media code and have been flawless. All these have been burned with the ASUS 1608P burner. I guess it all depends on how long you want your data to last for. I don't know how long my backups on Princo and other cheapies will last so I will get round to putting them on quality media over the next wee while. |

| 459450 | 2006-05-31 12:00:00 | i guess using standalone players to test dvd media's reliablity might not be the best due to some drives being picky and yea.. i've already heard how princo discs works well but also not so well for different drives i've read on a forum..um..cdfreak or something about reliability and stuff and also some people say that the writer is also a factor so some discs works real well and get good results from only a certain burner also from the forum..they say you can test the disc after it has been written to look for some errors and how smooth it reads and stuff ..sigh..would be more helpful if i can find that post..just didn't bookmark it best thing to do imo is to try a few recommended brand on your writer and test it yourself after you burn it and also test in your standalone if you're burning dvd video.. best disc on pc doesn't necessary mean that it'll work on your player.. not for me anyway.. |
