| 460492 | 2006-06-05 02:27:00 | ok basic question here... I'm renovating, new mobo/cpu/ram to computer. New cpu is athlon 939, it came with a cooler, and says to apply thermal paste before attaching... there is no paste in the kit - does the little sticky patch on the bottom of the cooler suffice or does it actually need extra paste? The instructions don't quite seem to match the actual bits! thanks Bill |

| 460494 | 2006-06-05 03:10:00 | all cpu/heatsinks require thermal paste of some sort. most stock heatsinks have it pre applied. just pull off the plastic tape covering it. personally i scape the stock paste off, sand (lap) the base of the heatsink (the standard ones are very rough) untill its nice and smooth, then reapply some decent thermal paste. |
