Dell computer with Windows XP SP2 Home.
Cannot connect to https secure pages using either IE or Firefox (e.g. bnz.co.nz ok but not the online banking link). Also other programs don't work (proxy server, download manager, anti-virus updater). Only Internet Explorer, Firefox and Outlook express work when Avast was not installed or disabled). Tried adding sites to trustd sites, working with a new user account and everything I found on the internet (www.vcn.com www.duxcw.com several MS articles etc). |

Can you advise what error message you get when trying to connect to those pages? |

Internet Explorer comes up with Page Not found (like if you typed in an invalid address). Firefox comes up with something like being blocked - can't remember the exact error message. |

Firewall is probably blocking the required ports e.g. https pages runs on port 443. |

Firewall not running and XP's firewall is set to enable 443. Also other programs that don't work use port 80 (to access there updates?) |
