460193 2006-06-03 13:42:00 Just installed zone alarm firewall and I notice that it blocks some of the animations of some webpages. For example, in Xtra's home page, on the top-right hand corner where xtra's animated broadband advertisement is blocked.

How do I turn it back on?

Also, do I have to turn off Windows own firewall?

Cheers

460194 2006-06-03 13:53:00 Typically, two firewalls do not get along together....unless one is a hardware type.

ZA will eventually turn off Window's firewall to make things easier, but then Windows will complain....it's like a pair of toddlers fighting over a piece of candy.

ZA is trying to protect you from ActiveX components...that's why you see missing animations.

Use Windows firewall, and let ZA do everything but not be a firewall and things will probably get better.

If you want to see the animations, go into the privacy tab in ZA and allow them.

Have unchecked animations but still not showing.

If you are using ZA as well, would appreciate it if you could visit Xtra's home page and see whether the animation shows - on the top-right hand corner where the Xtra's Broadband thingy is.

I want to learn how to control ZA rather than letting ZA to control me.

460198 2006-06-03 22:59:00 On a computer with ZoneAlarm and dialup the animations show up perfectly fine in Opera. This leads me to suspect that your problem lies with Firefox, given your other problem with pasting text.

Would suggest a complete uninstall and reinstall of the latest version of Firefox which came out two days ago.

Or better still, install Opera.

460199 2006-06-03 23:31:00 Quite a few of Joes statements are incorrect.(ZA will eventually turn off Window's firewall to make things easier, but then Windows will complain....it's like a pair of toddlers fighting over a piece of candy.)
I think it is in the Windows security settings it asks you if you are useing another firewall and it gives you the option to turn the Windows firewall off. You can also turn the Windows firewall off from inside ZA.

Have uninstalled, clean with Ccleaner, removed folders, etc, and reinstall Firefox 1.5.0.4 but still doesn't show the animation. And also doesn't allow me to 'paste'.

Checked my I.E and found that the animation also blocked. I therefore conclude that the problem is with ZA.

My other computer (without ZA) is showing the animation OK.

I really want to control ZA rather than the other way round. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me to get this right.

Cheers

460201 2006-06-04 00:05:00 Did you reinstall the flash and shockwave player / plugins?

After u reinstalled Firefox??

If whatever animation you're talking about is flash or shockwave based.

I cant even see the animation you're talking about on the Xtra site.

460202 2006-06-04 00:19:00 It is a zone alarm problem, on my old pc with zone alarm pro I couldn't see any animations either.

Try google, I think its a fairly common problem.
