460204 2006-06-04 04:46:00 Have uninstalled, clean with Ccleaner, removed folders, etc, and reinstall Firefox 1.5.0.4 but still doesn't show the animation. And also doesn't allow me to 'paste'.

Checked my I.E and found that the animation also blocked. I therefore conclude that the problem is with ZA.

My other computer (without ZA) is showing the animation OK.

I really want to control ZA rather than the other way round. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me to get this right.

Cheers

OK...I still say they fight amongst themsleves for supremacy in firewalls...I have had instances where ZA actually turned of Windows Defender Beta...maybe not the latest version, but the first version would not be able to overpower ZA and consequently lost the fight.

Then...Windows Beta complained that it was shut off and kept on popping up dire warnings that it was disabled and that I had to do something about it. I just deleted ZA and went straight to Windows Defender, the current version and have had no trouble since.

Ok..here's where the flames might come from: I actually like Windows Defender! There! I said it!!!!!

And trevor....I could not get the two of them to run at the same time...it was either ZA or Windows Defender...and ZA always won over Defender. I would get warnings...well, I said all that a few lines above...and that's the way it was...on two puters...but again, not since the newest version of Defender. v 1.1.1051.0 was installed.

......and the words "Quite a few of Joes statements are incorrect.", IF it actually is wrong, then really is only one statement, not quite a few. The truth be said: experience is the best teacher...and that's the way it was. I had that experience. Once upon a time. On a small planet. In the northern hemisphere. During daylight hours.

460205 2006-06-04 07:45:00 ZA is a heap of resource hogging crap that does not port forward properly, made for nooblets. Use a real firewall like Sygate, its not half as annoying. Battleneter (60)
460206 2006-06-04 08:00:00 Zone Alarm have been awarded with gold in the top ten firewall software. If you know how to control the firewall you're fine, if not it'll block a lots of thing but be careful some pages contains web bugs especially msns webs including xtramsn.co.nz;) don't disable the firewall unless you're very familair with the web your going into. Zone Alarm can help much except blocking hackers, you also need an anti-spyware to protect yourself.:D Software cost money, that's right computers are expensive if you don't believe it or get a crappy performace with sad face on the computer. My computer performance is fine except starting up time because lots of programmes need to start up at once. MTLance (6768)

460208 2006-06-04 08:17:00 Zonealarm can also screw up like Nortons..It used to be annoying, when it shut down its proxy server, and this stopped u browsing the net, if you didnt know this.

I used to have Zonealarm on this, and the other PC. BUT, on the other PC, it took too long to load. Even with 1 GB.. It could take up to a minute. Before everything including ZA came up.

So, I chucked it out. And am now using another firewall.

Which is totally free. And has no limitations, like the free version of Zonealarm. And the new firewall has cut the loading time in 1/2 down to 20-30 secs, which is what it should be.

And doesnt take so long to load. And you dont have to tick this and that, like you have to with Zonealarm, just to be safe.

Lol I know it has, but the people often evaluating for awards often seem clueless, so forgive me if I am unimpressed. Nortons Antivirus has also won many many awards, enough said.

460210 2006-06-04 08:48:00 Sorry about double message being posted in this forum because my internet is super slow today while downloading stuff with it. I use Zone Alarm Pro Ok and blocked a lot of spywares but you still anti-spyware for this. But you need to know how to use Zone Alarm like programme control and configure it first before running programme for the first time for ZA. MTLance (6768)
460211 2006-06-04 11:50:00 After all the hassle - blocking this, blocking that (my Outlook also affected), have finally decided and uninstalled ZA. It's too "wild" for me to tame it.

Happy with my XP's built-in firewall untill .....

Anyway, I wish to thank you all for sharing with me your views and experiences.

Cheers

Woah! Never rely on XP's built-in firewall! An excellent 3rd party firewall that I would not hesitate to recommend is Sygate Personal Firewall (SPF), which is free. More info can be found from here: www.sygate.com

Just noticed that on the top left-hand corner of the website, it says "acquired by Symantec". It couldn't be as bad as Norton, could it?

Cheers :)
