| 460096 | 2006-06-02 22:55:00 | A mate of mine had a DVD player in his pc and I think he has changed it's region 4 or 5 times and of course now it's locked. If you re-load the drivers or update the firmware, will that fix it or has he stuffed it? |

If you re-load the drivers or update the firmware, will that fix it or has he stuffed it? He's stuffed it . Nothing you can do about it . Its locked at the last region DVD he played . This is why it gives u 4 changes . Altho, there are programs around that can bypass this, which run in the background, or on startup . There is also DVD x player, which will play any zone DVD . BUT, this isn't free . You could try VLC player I think it is . Not sure if it can play DVD's or not . Never used it . |

| 460099 | 2006-06-02 23:56:00 | Many drives have alternative hacked/patched firmware available which removes region recognition completely (play any zone under any software). Not hard to find, do a search under RC1 or RC2 dvd firmware. You *must* use the correct firmware your your specific make and model of drive. |

| 460104 | 2006-06-03 08:20:00 | i think a software solution might be safer than doing firmware flash and stuff dvd43 is free and it works fine ..and another 'less' helpful solution~ get a new drive :p |
