461095 2006-06-06 07:09:00 Hi, Can anyone help me with Linux using Windows format file. Like avi, mp3 and etc. How do I open those files in Linux Ubuntu 6.06? MTLance (6768)
461096 2006-06-06 07:19:00 Read the help files that come with Ubuntu. All this information is also found on the Ubuntu website. Have a look at it as it gives step by step guides.

I'm curious, did you even try to find this out for yourself first before posting about it? People are more willing to help those who at least attempt to help themselves first. :)

Read up, and then post back if you have any questions or problems.

461097 2006-06-06 07:37:00 Dam, need to convert my audio files in Windows XP to ogg mode to play it. I mean most of my paid mp3 are download needs to converted. Is there any other way to do this? I did use Linux help like Windows Press F1 but nothing says about playing mp3 files. MTLance (6768)
461098 2006-06-06 07:52:00 Take Jen's advice.

Type ubuntu mp3 support into google and see how you get on. If you try this and still have a problem, people will be more likely to help you.

461099 2006-06-06 07:57:00 Took me 3 seconds to find it both on the Ubuntu website and on the included Help files on the system.

Under Help, look under Ubuntu Documents > Ubuntu Desktop Guide > Common tasks. It clearly tells you want you need both under Multimedia Codecs and Music ...

The same help files are available on Ubuntu under the guides here: help.ubuntu.com

461102 2006-06-06 08:34:00 What playskool? Can't believe I can't find the application that I've downloaded codec for Linux. Can't find .exe file in that package. (gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse) from the bottom moving up to the third. I can't install that file. MTLance (6768)
461103 2006-06-06 08:50:00 I'm not entirely sure but I don't think Linux uses exe files. joshjnz (7844)
461104 2006-06-06 08:56:00 I'm not entirely sure but I don't think Linux uses exe files. Then what files do they use? Anyone? MTLance (6768)
