460643 2006-06-05 09:45:00 A retired couple have no video image in Windows Media Player .

They can hear the audio but there is only a mauve/purple box where the video should be .

We checked the audio and video settings .

We downloaded Windows Media Player 10 and the security . We also installed VLC Media Player .

Still get audio only in both .

460646 2006-06-05 10:02:00 A codec will do depends what type of file they're playing e.g DVD videos or compressed type with Divx compression format or something. MTLance (6768)
460647 2006-06-05 10:05:00 You dont have to pay for codecs . Most are free .

You just have to know where to look .

Or install a program like Powerdvd or dvd x player . They usually install codecs for you .

But these arent free .

460649 2006-06-08 06:39:00 I downloaded the Windows Media Player Codecs from Microsoft. The PC occasionally plays video (*.wmv and *.mpg) on the playlist but in a random order. jimmyjoe (5126)
