2006-06-06 04:07:00 | Linux is full of security holes and is easily attacked by viruses and spyware, add to this the endless updates makes it a poor product. Linux is Ok for playing games but not for anything serious. Thank god for Microsoft and Windows XP, if it wasn't for them Linux would rule the world unchallend and the Distro's could charge what ever they like.

But why people don't attack Linux? And attack us Microsoft users? Is it because many people use it? I guess that's the meaning. Is it? |

2006-06-06 05:00:00 | Can't say any OS really is bad. I use Windows XP at home (compatibility and other users who don't like other platforms Linux at work on a server (have had it on my home comp but didn't use it much purely due to hardware compatibility issues (stupid Nvidia drivers)). I am looking forward to trying Ubuntu 6.06 though Mac OS X Tiger at work and whenever possible otherwise (don't own one mainly due to price and some other niggly issues) So yeah, I can't really criticize any but to sum it up Linux is definitely up there with the likes of Windows and Mac OS is good for anyone wanting a powerful yet user friendly system (and it is my personal preference).

2006-06-06 05:13:00 | I was just trying to bait a arguement, your no fun. ??? Hmm, I've use Norton before and chcked that many viruses were built for Windows. And saw some for Linux but rarely seen it is not that virus writers didn't create viruses for Linux because more are more familiar with Windows system I guess. But my McAfee wasn't built for Linux. :( Linux is dangerous I guess. Not even Norton creating Anti-Viruse for Linux. | MTLance (6768) | |

2006-06-06 05:26:00 | How? It can be attacked by viruses easily without Anti-Virus programmes. I know some of the viruses were built for Linux. If you don't see one, that's good, if you saw one that's bad. | MTLance (6768) | |
2006-06-06 05:38:00 | If you saw one, point me in the direction of it. I have yet to see someone having virus problems with Linux. Why do you think Linux doesn't have antivirus products? There's no reason to make any. The few antivirus programs that do run on Linux (ClamAV as an example) scan for Windows viruses - these don't even affect Linux, but are scanned for to help prevent Windows picking them up. I'm sure that at some point in the future we may see some kind of virus issue (with Linux), but AFAIK it's not a problem as this point in time. Also if serious vulnerabilities are discovered with Linux, they are often patched within a few hours (the ubuntu plaintext password bug is a good example) - compare that to the better part of a month for Windows. | Erayd (23) | |

2006-06-06 06:09:00 | Linux web pages takes longer to load than XP or maybe I've modified the connection in my XP. And Networking looking and opening files from XP is pretty slow too. | MTLance (6768) | |
