460628 2006-07-15 10:06:00 Hi guys, What can I do in Linux??? I mean browsing internet, sending emails, play Linux games and what else can you do??? Looks kinda boring to me.:( Sorry, I'm new to Linux system.
You could spend many happy hours and days getting Windows games to work with it.
Here's an example:
gentoo-wiki.com dega

:pCedega isn't free though. You can still use WINE to install World of Warcraft. I have a mate online who has Gentoo and has done it like that. He plays often and hasn't had any problems (he even did a howto); but then hes been using Linux for years

460630 2006-07-16 01:57:00 You have to appreciate that the Linux world is different. In the Windows world, its about making money (in most cases) and therefore you can never see "behind the scenes". If it wasn't for Linux I wouldn't know as much about networking as I do (some might question that statement :D ). If you like to know how things work, Linux is great. Most people don't care how it works, they just use a computer as a means to an end. Ok I am a bit of a geek; although I cannot string 10 linux commands together on one command line but I try my best.

No-one is forcing you to use Linux but some would say that if certain companies had it their way, everyone would be using Windows (oops - lets not go down that track). Although that may be changing with IBM and Novell getting involved with Linux.

Although many people find this confusing, I love having lots of choice with different distro's. Even within the PressF1 Linux community, different people have their favourite distro. You can try as many as you like for not much outlay and if you don't like it, you can try something else... even go back to Windows if you like. Hey you can even use both Windows and Linux for different uses (some people have an off road vehicle and a runabout vehicle).

If you relate to games, not all games come out for the PS2 and the Xbox. Unless you own both you miss out on some games.

460631 2006-07-16 02:14:00 You can do many more things with any Unix system than with Windows. Unix has been around twenty more years. Admittedly, modern games aren't a major feature, but Unix was made for people to work with computers not play with them. Graham L (2)

Oh yes you can . The average user maybe not but if you have decent skills you can .
