461456 2006-06-07 22:12:00 I get the following...now over 40 times..why?

Standard Mode: Fault in MS-DOS Extender

EC=0000 CS=0053 IP=278D AX=0000 BX=0034 CX=03F0 DX=0010
SI=0334 DI=0001 BP=4278 DS=0000 ES=0034 SS=004B SP-425C

Is this something in the harddrive? Did I format the hdd wrong?

I have gone thru Setup and tried various 98se boot discs with and without cd-rom support enabled.

I've set the BIOS at defaults and tried a whole lot of changes that went nowhere.

This is just an old COMPAQ PRESARIO 4550, but it had 98SE running in it before with a NIC and all. Now it doesn't work and I'm getting angry.

I only want this to run a reference hard-disk-installed program, and I figured that 98SE would be the simplest to use for that.

Has anyone had this same problem?
