2006-06-08 23:52:00 | to pancake - have just read your post to Cead and found it very interesting - seems a little like my system - i've made a copy of your comments to refer to, would you recommend i follow a similar path? | jayal (1291) | |
2006-06-09 06:01:00 | to MTLance - i usually do that but did again - would like to be able to say all's well but alas no - took an age to reboot when it finally decided to do so - still hoping?? After doing this on my XP I have no problem with it. I don't know why you still have problems with this. | MTLance (6768) | |
2006-06-09 09:55:00 | to MTLance - hi - me neither - looks like everyone else has given up on this one - pancake hasn't even replied - thanks for your input anyway | jayal (1291) | |
2006-06-09 09:59:00 | Do you use Registry Fix and other software like that? e.g System Mechanic, Registry Mechanic, and etc. Do you buy these stuff? My computer are running fine with these. | MTLance (6768) | |
2006-06-09 10:39:00 | When you reinstalled Windows, was it an install over an existing install, or a clean install. If you have all needed data backed up, I would completely wipe the 4GB C: drive and reformat it. Then reinstall Windows 98. From memoy the new install should take something like 1/2 a gig (approx 550MB).

2006-06-09 10:49:00 | Don't have System Mechanic don't worry but try using Registry Mechanic and Registry Fix. When I reinstall my Windows to replace Linux and installed huge chuncks of software the system slow down after using CCleaner, Registry Fix, and Registry Mechanic the system run back to normal. | MTLance (6768) | |
2006-06-09 10:56:00 | Jayal, using Spacemonger can you post a screen save of the result to: imagef1.net.nz Then post a link to the jpg/gif back here. Do one of each partition. Like this: imagef1.net.nz

2006-06-09 11:07:00 | What anti-virus and/or firewall do you use? modern security tools can really slow down old computers. | Greven (91) | |
2006-06-10 11:51:00 | to zqwerty - sh*t man i'm in unchartered waters here, but i tried to Tazz - yep, reinstalled over the top - i understand that, but i've had a clean out of programmes and would probably put what's left back to MTLance - using Ashampoo WinOptimizer, Regclean, A2, Spybot, Ad-Aware, Zone Alarm, ccleaner, AVG - thought about buying Reg Mechanic but have this thing about giving card details over the net thank you all for replying

2006-06-10 12:38:00 | To screen save a particular window, make sure you are on the window then hit Alt+Print Screen, open your favorite graphics program, IrfanView is good for this but MS Paint will do. Paste into it, the Alt+Print Screen copied the image to the scratchpad/clipboard memory, then save as a .jpg or .gif to your desktop or where ever you can find it again then upload to the ImageF1 link above then copy the link it gives you to your next post here. | zqwerty (97) | |
