I purchased a Corsair H80i and the backplate that came with the Cooler is a loose fit i.e., it doesn't tighten securely so the CPU block doesn't make proper contact with the CPU itself. This is a well known problem as I have found out (Wish I would have known this before I bought it), but apparently there is a very simple solution to fix it. As I'm still on LGA 1155 I'm still using my old Corsair H60 backplate on the H80i as it works no problem, but in the next few weeks I'm getting a new LGA1150 i7-4790k and I just wanna be able to install the new motherboard (Asus Maximus VII Hero) straight away without having to muck around with the cooler. The solution is to use 1 or 2 nylon spacers to put between the backplate and motherboard so it sits flush with the holes on the motherboard otherwise cooler will be loose and not perform properly. Here's the Youtube link to the video where another person describes the problem: www.youtube.com And this is the type of nylon spacer he used to put on each of the four corners of the backplate to secure it snug against the motherboard www.youtube.com My question is, as the 2nd link shows an American website, I'm not sure which Spacer to get as i live in New Zealand, and I don't wanna go to Bunnings or Mitre 10 and be there for hours trying different spacers so wondered if there was anyone else on the forum with the same cooler than could tell me what size to get. Many Thanks, Chris |
