| 1403485 | 2015-06-23 20:19:00 | Can some of of U advise what must B on C drive. Nothing needs to be on C: except the O/S. You can move your documents folder by a simple CUT and Paste. If any programs installed, uninstall them, then reinstall on D: or E:, whatever other partitions or dives you have. |

| 1403486 | 2015-06-23 20:56:00 | Move your page file to another drive or set it to be a very small fixed size on C: and set a system managed one elsewhere. Chances are it's what is running low not your memory. Also disable hibernation if it's enabled to remove the hibernation file support.microsoft.com Some advocate keeping the page file on the SSD for speed, others argue it wears out the drive, I advocate moving it to keep more space for programs on C: and because in practice you won't notice any speed difference. hibernaion is not needed on an SSD really and uses too much space on a small one. instructions here superuser.com some explanations here (some of which is out of date but the page file stuff is still good) lifehacker.com Here's a general guide to slimming down windows 7 for an SSD www.zdnet.com it includes both the other suggestions so you can just use this one if you prefer |

" Dont cut & paste the my docs\, my pictures, my music etc folders . . . right click & go 'properties' 'move' That SSD dive will be more than big enough, thats what I have as my Win7 C: . You will however need a 2nd HD installed . Put all the music , movies, downloads etc in the 2nd HD Install Windirstat, it will show you whats aking up all the space . Try CCleaner as well . https://windirstat . info/ |

| 1403488 | 2015-06-23 23:48:00 | When I moved My Documents to drive D, some programs stopped working. Steve Gibson of Gibson Research: grc.com is of the opinion that program files should be on C; I respect his expertise. I am not a technically minded person. I prefer to reserve my intellectual resources for the exercise of my intelligence rather than for memory. Nothing needs to be on C: except the O/S. | 1403489 | 2015-06-24 00:43:00 | I was not being funny . I was recovering from an asthma attack, and hadn't recovered as much as I thought; still havent . When every breath U take requires a conscious effort it is very distracting, and I am being denied the inhalers I need to breath . My arthritic hands were aching and stiff . I was trying to avoid typing as much as possible . I dont think anyone failed to understand me . I moved my Music, all 40 GB to an internal 1TB drive and all other things like personal docs . that didn't effect the function of the machine, as I understand it . A lot of links stopped working when I did that . Software installers put files necessary to the programs function in my documents sometimes . By the way, I have been using CCleaner longer than I can remember and I have been a member of this forum since 1999, so dont treat me like a newbie please . Mate, whats up with the attitude . pressf1.pcworld.co.nz No one here knows the extent of your knowledge . Since you needed help with a basic issue, its fair to assume limited PC skills (not an insult, just an assumption) |
