1393045 2015-01-25 22:33:00 Has Bob said anything wrong? Or is this the media beating up a story out of nothing, which is what I think. Must have been a slow news day....

1393046 2015-01-25 22:44:00 No he is not wrong it is just the PC professionaly offended at anything people that think so. Having said that anyone that believes that all those of any ethnic group behaves that way because some do is lacking in intelligence. CliveM (6007)
1393047 2015-01-25 23:12:00 He is 100% correct and the stats would back him up. Just some simple questions? has anyone ever seen an Islander mowing his lawns with stout foot ware other than jandals, ever seen a moaris kid on a bike in Manurewa with a helmet on? prefect (6291)
1393048 2015-01-26 02:16:00 So when Bob Kerridge says it, he's a racist, but when the local MP says effectively the same thing, it's not:

Local MP for Mangere Su’a William Sio shares Mr Kerridge’s frustration about the growing problem in south Auckland, but he disagrees it’s a race issue.

“I think it’s wrong for him to be pointing the finger at ethnic groups and saying they’re responsible for the number of dog attacks,” says Mr Sio.

But he says new migrants need help to better understand the rules of owning an animal.

It's not about race, but it IS about migrants.... Wot?

That's everyone then since even the Maori are immigrants

1393050 2015-01-26 04:28:00 If you watch the Police TV programs when they do a raid on some low life's property, if there is a dog it is invariably a pit bull, bull dog or other fighting breed. Something about being Macho or staunch. mzee (3324)
1393051 2015-01-26 04:52:00 He did say
"What we're saying is, this is a contributing factor, we're not making an issue of it."

In other words, there are many other factors. Which I have witnessed myself. Ethnicity is not necessarily the issue, the issue is a general type of social attitude that makes it ok. It just so happens that that attitude stems from the "gangster" mentality that is so common today in various groups, of which ethnicity also has a part to play.

1393052 2015-01-29 02:53:00 Bob Kerridge appears to be telling it as it is, and he is backed up by the numbers of convictions (which are generally very low anyway compared to the size of the problems) and his experience on the job. However the PC brigade get their knickers in a twist, as to be expected.

For example. "Dame Susan Devoy called Mr Kerridge's claims "unhelpful, wrong and incredibly offensive to a lot of people". Well, she has to say something like this doesn't she, so that she gives the appearance of doing her job ? Otherwise we don't hear much from her.
