1392113 2015-01-14 04:56:00 Murray McCully on about the illegal fishing ships in New Zealand waters.
"Unfortunately the Navy have not been able to board the ship because the captain refuses to give them permission to do so"
What is wrong with a shell across the bows, then if that is ignored, sink it. With this attitude god help the Navy if they have to deal with a Pirate ship or foreign navy ship. If one of these ships was sunk there would not be any illegal ships in NZ waters.

Next time the Police wish to seize or search your car, arrest you for a crime, or whatever, you should be asked for your permission first!

PATHETIC!!!

1392114 2015-01-14 05:06:00 Not much point in having a Navy then.

Sink the sod's and they won't be back.

Missed the part where he said the rough weather conditions also prevented them from doing so, but the ship will be pursued for as long as necessary, and they will also explore other avenues of bringing the ship's crew - but just as importantly the owners - to justice?

Or are you just ignoring the facts to slag off the government again?

Your post certainly was pathetic :(

1392117 2015-01-14 05:56:00 Put the crew into their lifeboats if they have any and then sink the fishing trawlers.. Looks at some of them on TV tonite it would take much to sink them.. paulw (1826)

I don't think they are in our waters. They are breaking international laws in fishing. We are trying to enforce them.

Please feel free to correct me anyone if I am wrong

And what gives anyone the right to control their fishing activities on the high seas? If they were in NZ waters, stop them and confiscate the ships. If outside NZ waters its really nothing to do with NZ, same as the Japanese harvesting whales.

1392120 2015-01-14 12:45:00 The problem is that in international waters boarding a ship is piracy.

In this case Equatorial Guinea has given permission to approach these fishing ships and board them.
