| 1403073 | 2015-06-30 21:08:00 | I am somewhat wary of the mighty M$ making updates compulsory for home version. :( I won't be paying to upgrade to professional on the multiple PCs here, as most of them are scarcely worth what it would cost. Good thing I am able to use Linux That will keep them all running far into the future. Fatal hardware faults notwithstanding, of course. |

| 1403074 | 2015-06-30 21:55:00 | I wanted a licence for my wife's Vista comp so bought an ex business Optiplex 780 with E8400, 4GB RAM, 250GB drive and Win 7 Pro off TM for $100. Will get a cheap Win 10 licence with a capable comp thrown in for free! | linw (53) | ||

Yep, using a Win7 OEM licence on another PC isnt allowed, nor is using 1 PC's Win 10 upgrade on a different PC. It is piracy, & MS probably do know what youre trying to do when when you try & activate it . Not saying it actually cant be done though.... |

| 1403077 | 2015-07-01 05:39:00 | Yes, I realised the implications of the OEM but this Optiplex is the same CPU as her old desktop (my hand-me-down!) and the box is a lot smaller. So, that is now her comp and her desktop now becomes a comp I will keep going with Win 10 Previews. Extra one for the grandkids, too! All good till the hardware collapses! But, that's OK. It may go for a good few years. And it might not. C'est la vie! Preview 10158 yesterday and 10159 today!! Keeps me busy with three machines. |

They dont use choppers & stormtroopers, yet . They also know whats going on when you activate your home versions,it would be very easy for them to track what PC & how many PC's its been used on via MAC address. |
