So the idea that maori should learn themselves before "pushing" it on others is a moot and (please don't take offense) seemingly ignorant point. Im sorry, but lets talk facts, not BS ;) 75% of Maori DO NOT SPEAK THE LANGUAGE (2006 ) So again, if maori themsleves dont care enough to take the time & learn the language, why push it (yes) on others socialreport.msd.govt.nz Just personally , I cant see any harm in teaching it at preschool/primary . But I get annoyed at white NZ'ers wanting it compulsory at schools when they themselves(pakeha) cant be bothered to learn it. |
