Why are said police able to retire with their pensions intact? Why is the compensation not paid by the judiciary and the Police instead of the tax payer? Don’t forget that our present top cop described a colleague who had been found guilty of planting evidence to secure a murder conviction as having “"integrity beyond reproach" which gives you some idea of the standards they set. :rolleyes: |

Clearly that would be terrible and in such a case, compensation would be a fair question . However that isn't true of David Bain . Five people died . Murdered . That is not something we can shrug off . Jurys found him guilty and he was finally found not gulity more than a decade after the event . Not guilty = not proven . It does not mean innocent in the public sense . |

The problem was the Police/Prosecution withheld and destroyed evidence which would have prejudiced the “Beyond Reasonable Doubt” criteria . “The evidence never put to the jury concerned Bain's father's state of mind, his alleged incest with one of his daughters, a prostitute, and further forensic testimony casting doubt on some of the evidence given to the jury” . So clearly it wasn’t a fair trial, which just so happens to be the opinion of the “Law Lords” also . Effectively we were told to go back home and do the job properly which led to David Bain being found Not Guilty of all charges . Unfortunately, any compensation will be footed by the Taxpayer, not those that stuffed up . :( |
