The only criteria for expert is that you are filthy rich. I would call him a traitor to the White race in New Zealand and to shut the **** up. That sounds fair and reasoned to me!! |

This was the British colonial way. In this country even the Maori where not allowed to speak their own language. Personally I would choose Chinese as the most useful language at the moment. |

It was he that put up the money to start up the sons business. Any reward he gets from that is well deserved. He is right about the cats. Apart from that, I think this idea stinks. Ken :) |

Ken :) One is not saying, because he is rich he shouldn't have a point of view, just that it doesn't allow him to impose his ideas on us, any more than you have a right to. His subject, economics, I am completely in agreement with his views, but then he is a trained economist. |

| 1392563 | 2015-01-24 02:58:00 | Any one know what the original inhabitants the Maororis called New Zealand before they were slaughtered by the moaris? Anything pre Maori seems to be conjecture. The greatest achievements of Māori material culture were carving wood for important buildings and canoes, and fashioning stone into tools and ornaments. Warfare did not inhibit regular trade in desirable stones and foods, and was itself a means by which resources were appropriated. The word Maori is relatively new and means ordinary. |

The Moriori are now believed to just be a Maori tribe that migrated to the Chathams and developed their own culture en.wikipedia.org As such they were not a pre-Maori people of NZ and had no earlier claim or name for the place. You might as well join up with those that believe Vikings came here first and try and figure to what they named the place. It has a name, we know it's history, good enough for me. |

| 1392565 | 2015-01-24 06:32:00 | Not what I was taught, they were not even polynesian but Melanesian or even South Asian like Malays . As a peace loving tribe they could hardly ever be polynesian | prefect (6291) | ||

Hmmm . Sounds to me like that suits the maori . . . . . various ones I have mentioned moriori too, have reacted quite vehemently about them . They were peaceful - maori were not . They had their own culture . . . dubious claims that they were the same people . Still, the winners write history . |
