| 1403739 | 2015-06-28 22:38:00 | "Windows 8 'please wait' screen" . That is sometimes simply windows update Windows Updates can sometimes grind a PC to a halt, especially if there are a backload of em. Interrupting a WinUpdate install can cause some issues , sometimes . Alot of Windows updates can also delay the startup by a considerable amount of time. Shuting it down down 1/2 way through that can cause issues . You need to do some basic fault finding yourself. Its easy, initially. 1) dont install Norton. In fact, dont install any AV yet 2) run windows update, keep doing that untill no more Windows updates are found or available . NOW TURN IT OFF , just for now. 3) DONT INSTALL ANYTHING ELSE YET. If you have, uninstall it. You want win as clean as possible, for now. With Win in a bare clean state, and Windows updates turned off, see how it runs & see if you get the same issues . Win must be fairly clean & not loaded up with crap while testing. These arent the essientials "First night I install the essentials: steam, firefox, spotify, battle.net" :) Then download memtest86+ , burn to CD & leave it running a mem test for 1/2 a day. Run a surface scan or a hard drive test tool from the HD manufacturer (unless its a SSD) |
