1403023 2015-06-20 04:59:00 The Windows 10 upgrade will install and activate a new license.

Rolling back will really roll back: You’ll find yourself back in the old OS with everything exactly how you left it, including the key and activation state.

The Windows 10 key is then remembered by the Windows Store for the next time you want to try.

1403026 2015-06-21 19:47:00 Well for me you have answered the main question. Will I be able to download an do a clean install rather than an upgrade though nmercer? It's high time I did a new clean install of Win7 but am waiting for Win10 to hopefully do it but will probably not happen until around October. Let those early bugs get ironed out. gary67 (56)
1403027 2015-06-21 19:47:00 That's about rolling back.

1. What about if I need to reinstall the OS after one year from 29 July?

Just its a change to get an actual answer that makes any sense. Anyone only has to look at the Insider Program, and several other sites where Microsoft reps reply to questions. Many times the actual answer is either completely ignored or some other answer to something is given. Those other posts on the insider, it was clearly asked about the final release of Windows 10 on 29th July , and answers given were for the preview.

Negative comments ?? Well if its still not working and doing simple tasks that have active actions breaks it, then its still got bugs, that's what the feed back is for - advising of faults /bugs that are found so they can be fixed. If the start menu bug is still there on RTM, I know of several people who will have problems.

1403030 2015-06-21 23:08:00 Ive got to agree with comments here re MS's ambiguous comments & replies.
Perhaps staffers there are just too scared to draw a line in the sand & state CLEARLY : this is exactly what will happen.
More double speak than politicians .

eg: comments from MS employee that were misunderstood & everyone thought that pirated Win would get a free ug
eg : comments from MS re insiders getting the full Win10 for free *** MS NEVER SAID that, they said insiders could install/ug to the release version . They never said insiders
would get a free lic , at least not in the MS replies I saw: ie they didnt really answer the question.

Just to clarify, dont assume that those on the insider program will get a win10 lic for free. Unless MS clearly state that(they havnt), assume its not true.

Interesting that it looks like the lic/install key will be somehow tied to the MS Store. Is that a way of getting users to start using the MS Store ??

1403031 2015-06-21 23:22:00 Is that a way of getting users to start using the MS Store Personally I hardly ever log into the MS store, only to download some games maybe, or the odd app like the SKY TV app. You can switch between a local or MS Account.

I do sign in with a password on our own computers but that's because they are connected to our own servers, not MS's services on line.

1403032 2015-06-22 02:44:00 I'm of the opinion that getting people to use the store is a big part of why they are giving away free upgrades. You can't make money from something no one has access to after all.
I use it on my tablet a bit, the netflix app is much nicer than running it in a browser for example. I haven't been spending any money there though.

For desktop use though there's really no point to many (or maybe any) of the new style apps verses the already existing desktop ones. Even MS appear to be backtracking a bit if Skype is anything to go by, they have abandoned the modern app and are going back to just having the desktop version.
