1402666 2015-06-15 05:14:00 all ISPs using the same copper, in your scenario, so unlikely to make much difference at all changing between ISPs

That's *if* the performance problems are there, in that leg, and not further in the ISPs international circuits.

The "Netflix effect" a while back, yeah, all ISPs suffered there.
If the issue is persisting, now though, I would be doing diagnostics to compare NZ National vs International speeds (Compare Auckland vs Sydney vs California).

1402667 2015-06-16 04:22:00 I have noticed that my adsl broadband has been very slow some nights and some pages will not load sometimes. eg the herald, Trademe etc.

Netflix etc might have some impact on speeds but should be nowhere near the point where you can't even load webpages. Sounds like something else is wrong there.

This is the usual speed at this time of night for Actrix,I certainly hope it's temporary, still waiting on another router to try but I doubt the problem lies there

My ISP is also Actrix. They are probably not supplying your Broadband but are agents. Look at the bottom left corner of the test for the address of the supplier. When I had a problem they changed me to another server. Your speed is VERY low, I suspect that there is a fault in the wiring/router/server. You may also have a fault in your Wireless network card, or obsolete driver. I am getting between 12Mbps & 20Mbps depending on the time of day on the North Shore. Lowest speed is on a wet cold Sunday. Up speed is about 9Mbps (VDSL). Actrix always listen to you and are very helpful.
What is the line speed shown on your Router?

1402670 2015-06-16 07:00:00 Been changing server to see if there is a problem but to no effect,Ethernet connected,Netcomm NB6Plus4Wn

Line Rate 6816 Kbps 864 Kbps
Attainable Line Rate 7360 Kbps 1032 Kbps

Under Slingshot Line rate was only 5300 Kbps so we will try another router first, getting a ASUS DSL-N55U ADSL2/2+ Wireless-N 600Mbps in the next couple of days

1402671 2015-06-16 21:31:00 Are you semi rural? Those are ADSL1 stats. Alex B (15479)

1402673 2015-06-16 23:57:00 Then you're likely on a conklin cabinet. You pretty much will not get better speeds than what you're already getting no matter who you go with. You're probably better off looking into RBI options. Alex B (15479)
1402674 2015-06-17 00:31:00 Well, my speeds are now 7.4Mbs down 800 Kbs up with latency of 40ms.
Night and day, this is a huge improvement (20 times faster for down) over my speeds a month ago.
This is because we have finally got a fibre link to Westport replacing the old Microwave link
and an upgrade to newer gear in the exchange.

Oh and we have cellphone reception (Vodafone and Spark) from our shiny new tower on South Terrace.

All thanks to the RBI, I will give credit where credit is due,
National have delivered us an improved service.

Still don't support them though. ;)
