1403108 2015-06-18 10:40:00 Win7 going to 10.
4 Gig. ram installed, less than 900MB free. thinking of adding a sound card.

Dont know how resource hungry 10 will be.
Do u think I should get more ram?

These are the minimum hardware specifications needed to run Windows 10:

Processor: 1GHz or faster processor
RAM: 1GB for 32-bit or 2GB for 64-bit Windows 10
Hard disk space: 16GB for 32-bit or 20GB for 64-bit
Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later
Display: 1024x600 pixels or higher (virtually all devices have this)

I restarted my computer twice this evening, first after Win update, then after program updates. I have just over 600MB left free. I worry that may not b enough. It is my nature to multitask in a big way all the time.

MS has declared my computer Win10 ready. I have 111GB SSD, 1TB internal & 1TB external HDDs, so I guess I am OK. except that I want a little better sound.

I think that I read somewhere that Win10 comes with DirectX 12. If I remember correctly.
Thanks for the info.

Microsoft always had a low minimum requirement on RAM needed .

4GB is probably OK, but rather low these days in a PC

1403114 2015-06-19 01:54:00 4GB will be fine. If upgrading I'd advise going to 8GB. Nick G (16709)
1403115 2015-06-19 02:29:00 Win 7, 8 and 10, 4GB minimum for it to run acceptably. wratterus (105)
1403116 2015-06-19 02:40:00 even with 2Gb , Win7 runs OK, for basic Office/workstation stuff .
There are many thousands of Win7 PC's running quite happily on 2Gb
32bit wont even give you the full 4G , some 4Gb laptops end up with around 3Gb as seen by the OS , the rest being wasted on vid ram, unsuable RAM etc

More RAM is allways better though :-)
or is it ??
