2015-01-10 22:37:00 | Anyone hear why the pilot abandoned ship instead of a forced landing or a controlled ditching? | tut (12033) | |
2015-01-10 22:40:00 | No but perhaps he did not want to die just yet. The inquiry into the accident will establish wether or not he made the correct decision in due course. | CliveM (6007) | |
2015-01-10 23:37:00 | One story on Stuff: www.stuff.co.nz Under "PUFF OF SMOKE" describes what the guy saw. At a guess ( and that's all it is) the pilot may have tried to keep the plane stable long enough for the others to get out, steered it away from Land, maybe stalled and stuff this I'm out of here. Planes are replaceable, a persons life isn't.

2015-01-11 00:11:00 | Because he could? Most plane crash pilots don't have parachutes handy..... | pctek (84) | |
2015-01-11 01:29:00 | When carrying parachutists (Meat bombing) regulations dictate that the pilot wears a 'chute, since some parachutists are unpredictably hard on aircraft. | R2x1 (4628) | |
2015-01-11 03:40:00 | I thought it was pretty cowardly because the plane could have killed someone on the ground, I also want to know why he didnt ditch it or do a forced landing in the nice big paddocks in the bay | prefect (6291) | |
2015-01-11 04:54:00 | Mate, by popular decision, next time an airplane's engine stops, I have organised an instant swap between you and the pilot. I think that is a good idea as you are obviously such an expert! Ken ;)

2015-01-11 07:12:00 | I think the clown just panicked | prefect (6291) | |
2015-01-11 08:23:00 | It seems he didn't have height or speed or power, so he was effectively a brick and they're damn hard to fly. He gets full marks from me. ;)

If you had been the pilot we'd be wondering why you didn't bail out........but then again,.......maybe not. :help: Cheers Billy 8-{) :p |
