1391517 2015-01-05 01:25:00 Hi All.

I am currently using Overdrive to access Wanganui Library for E Books. It works perfectly on my laptop.
But not so good on my Thompson android tablet.
I would like to try another type of programme, one that allows me to connect to my local library. What do you use? Thanks PJ

1391518 2015-01-05 04:24:00 Overdrive is the library program and is a bit sensitive to different machines. Kindle won't work at all as an example.

The library usually has a boffin on the staff who would be happy to sort you out if it can be done.

Aldiko might be worth considering . . .

The books can only be borrowed by logging into "Overdrive" which then does its bit regards the borrowing from the library . This lets them be read and cancels the ability after a set number of weeks, 4 from memory . I think it is this system that stuffs up the using of some tablets, readers etc . Not what software you use to try and read it . I gave up trying at our library . I wanted to download to my laptop then transfer it to my Sony reader and it just never worked for me . Ihave enquired and they say what I told PJ about their boffin service . (Sony readers are not the most user friendly for internet use, slow as a wet week . )

Ken

Ps . Aldiko is my choice as a user friendly tool :)

Thats what we have on out Android Tablet, tried a few, but Aldiko worked the best. Dont ever use it to read from the internet, just download eBooks and load.

It may resolve many of your problems :)

1391524 2015-01-05 23:13:00 With the libraries you have no option but use overdrive. I have tried opening the books in other programs but they won't gary67 (56)
