461877 2006-06-09 10:01:00 Are you trying to install a version of XP, that has already been installed on another computer? And XP is still installed on this other computer?

If so, you cant. It may install, but you'll have problems activating it. And if you dont activate it, it'll lock you out, after 30 days.

461878 2006-06-09 10:10:00 If you are using legal windows(Only activated by you). And have problems activating it phone Microsoft and fake that you only install it on one computer and they ask why? Say you have problems so reformatted the HDD.
Try it if you can.

461879 2006-06-09 10:27:00 Is this a proper Windows CD or a Product Disc (as given out by most major retailers when you buy the computer)?
If its a product cd and you have made certain hardware changes (such as replaced motherboard, or even a CD drive) it could make the product disc null and void. If this is the case, look for another (proper Windows) CD.
Likewise if you are installing a product disc onto another computer, the hardware will definitely be different, and again you won't be able to install to that computer.
