| 462662 | 2006-06-12 23:38:00 | XP Home 2.8 P4 1 Gig ram This machine runs well except that if I right click on the desktop all that happens is that the pointer turns to an hourglass and hangs there. I then have to close down using Ctrl Alt Del and reboot. Right clicking within any program or on a desktop shortcut icon works perfectly normaly in all respects. The hangup only occurs if I right click on an unoccupied portion of the desktop (It should come up with the menu headed with "Arrange Icons by"). I have only recently noticed this behaviour and have scanned for viruses, run spysweeper, Ccleaner and Registry mechanic without finding anything untoward. I have spent some time with google but it has not helped me. I would appreciate any pointers or advice as to what to do next. |
