462251 2006-06-11 07:08:00 A while ago on my computer i started to have problems. I have sorted most of them out now but i still have one problem. Every time I load up a game and i open it in my computer and go through the setup it seems like everything will work but it comes up with a windows box which has the heading:16 Bit Windows Sub System .And in the box says: C:/WINNT\SYSYTEM\AUTOEXEC.NT. This system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and microsoft windows applications.Choose 'close' to terminate program.
because of this problem i cant play games or install things like 'infopedia' which is like Encarta.
PLEASE HELP!!

462252 2006-06-11 07:56:00 Corupted files, Luckily MS expect this to happen and seeing as a number of files are a tad importent they threw a folder into your windows directory that contains some backups.

Navigate to your C:\WINDOWS\repair folder, copy autoexec.nt and paste it into C:\WINDOWS\system32, let it overwrite the existing file.

Job done.

Ahem, if you are running XP, then you will have an autoexec.nt. I'd say Mets right, the file has become corrupted.

"AUTOEXEC.NT is used to initialize the MS-DOS environment unless a
different startup file is specified in an application's PIF."

For example I have an entry in this file to give a fancy prompt in dos mode.
