462277 2006-06-12 07:53:00 As well as any other problems you may have your system cache available shows that you have too many processes running and you must either reduce the running processes or get more ram, the amount you have is marginal for XP or Win2K anyway.

You need at least 512 Meg ram total for what you are running.

Get this program and reduce the number of programs running at startup that you know you won't be needing, come back here if you need advice on which to disable,

Startup Control Panel 2.8

www.mlin.net

and whilst you are there pick up:

StartupMonitor 1.02

www.mlin.net

You have not said how much free space you have on your HDD.

462279 2006-06-12 21:24:00 Muhahahahaha...brand name comps suck, And I don't give a rats arse what any other misguided fool says.

ok, I strayed a little. :D :D :D
Thank heavens for that! Sanity has returned and Metla is back to his old self. :D Incisive, clear and to the point. I didn't much like the touchy-feely "connected to inner-self" version.

Laptops aside, I wouldn't touch a brand name box with a 40 foot pole. Building to a price rather than performance and reliability specification has stuffed more consumers and killed more companies than you can count, and the effects can be seen everywhere, not just the computer industry. It goes beyond incompetence, and leaky buildings come to mind as one of the grosser examples.

Cheers

I would. You need a long pole to be able to push it off the desk, out the door and into the nearest sewage pond.
