| 463243 | 2006-06-15 06:40:00 | Microsoft have just let me download beta 2 from their :confused: website. But can I get it on to a hard drive? The 2 most common things to stop it are: 1. error code 80070241 (can't find what this is) 2. "setup failed to open windows image file" Any ideas. I am fast running out of them. Thanks |

If you are upgrading your XP installation, do not attempt it. Users have successfully installed Vista on a separate partition using Daemon Tools to mount the ISO file as a DVD. You can download Daemon Tools from the authors here: www.daemon-tools.cc If you are planning to upgrade your XP installation, the other thing you can do to copy files between your computer without a DVD burner and your computer with one is to use ftp. There are a number of free and easy to use FTP servers/clients available for download. The one I prefer is Filezilla: http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/ You will need to install Filezilla Server on one machine and Filezilla Client on the other, although it does not matter which machine gets which. Please be sure to read the instructions and configure Filezilla Server to require authentication. For extra protection if you have a router, you can configure it to listen only on your internal IP address and not your external one. You can then FTP the ISO file directly from one computer to the other without splitting it. Don't bother upgrading, make a new partition and test it!!! |
