463841 2006-06-17 08:47:00 I’ve just had to replace an elderly CD/RW with another second hand one.

Only problem is Nero is installed and advises it only works with the CD/RW it was packaged with! (Well, that’s the broken one) :(

Now, who would know what the replacement CD ROM was packaged with?

So, what is the accepted way to solve this impasse?

It reads OK, it just needs Burning Software. Oh, OS=Win98se.

Life ain't meant to be easy. :D

Or try out Easy ISO

463843 2006-06-17 09:05:00 Its saying that coz its an OEM version.. And will only work with the original burner it came with.

This is based on the serial # you typed in Nero to register it.

Only way to change this, is to change the serial number. If u had one.

Then it'll work.

463844 2006-06-17 09:29:00 Can you not just ask the person/outfit you got the replacement drive from if there was any burning software bundled with it? If not, then you'll just have to pay ya $$$ for a new Nero License or use a free one.. gibler (49)
463845 2006-06-18 00:18:00 Yep, I tried that CDBurnerXP Pheonix and it seems to go ok on 98se . In fact, it looks quite good .

Had one hang-up but that may have been my fault .

However, how do you stop it finalising a disk so as to have a multisession disk?
