463677	2006-06-19 00:12:00	Joe, I hope you don't mind me saying so but I really do think you are playing with fire with your adventures into dual booting Linux with Windows . After getting my fingers burnt upgrading Fedora Core 1 to Core 2 and losing my Windows partition I vowed to never again play with dual booting and got a removable caddy system as Jen mentioned in her last post . That way both Linux and Windows can have their own hard drives and do not need to dual boot . I kept my data on a FAT 32 partition on a third, fixed hard drive so that both Linux and Windows could access those files . That system worked well and I had no fear of my Windows installation getting trashed . Thanks . . and I have also come to the same conclusion . . . although my DELL P III seems happy with the dual-boot . This JBOD/SOYO Dragon Ultra Platinum w/Athlon XP setup seems to be too hard for L-based systems to comprehend . Remember that they say it will dual-boot with full serviceability on both systems . Maybe it's the source of the problem . Thankfully, there wasn't much that I could not live without on those drives anyway . . . now if it screwed up my videos and music files . . . I'D BE HOPPING!!! The worst loss was the Audacity files that I never got converted to MP3's anyway . . . I still cannot figure that one out . OH, and I also had the pixs of all the puters from youse guys at F1 on one of those drives too . . but I can just go back to the upload site and re-get them . I was just saving those drives for more and more videos . It's a real shame too that the dual-boot with KUBUNTU won't work well . I totally like the feel and visuals of it . In the short time I tried it live, I was very impressed . Not holding Linux things as responsible for any losses . . . it would even be foolish to try to install XP with 2000 too . . . though I know it can be done, but not be me .
