463588 2006-06-16 08:20:00 Hi,
Am looking for some headphones mostly for gaming. Music tastes would be some good old school rock/metal.
Am happy to spend between $100 and $300 if need be, for a tasty pair.
Mic is not essential, but would like it if I could find one with that's brilliant allround and has mike
Most essential is comfort, and the ability to seperate sounds as if they were 5.1 surround, to improve gaming experience.
I have a Creative X-fi fatality which i will be plugging into.
I hear Sennheiser is good, but wouldn't know which model.....
Thanks for your opinions!

463589 2006-06-16 09:13:00 You're bound to find your ideal compromise if you look for sennheisers. They ship here from overseas, and some NZ dealers stock them.

But if you get a good pair to use against me in any online games I play then I will truly pwn you!

463592 2006-06-16 23:59:00 hi mcpisik
Until recently PC World offered good quality headsets with microphone attached as a free gift if you became a subscriber. Just checked and the offer has changed to two free copies of PC World. However, if you are in luck, it may be that if you asked you could subscribe and get the headphones instead of the two free copies. That way you could "have your cake and eat it !!"

They may tell you to get lost -- but worth a try !

463593 2006-06-17 00:13:00 Wireless or wired headphones, which one would you prefer? Would you like your headphones to have noise-cancelling technology (OK, this is bad English)?

Cheers :)

I have a pair of wireless Philips headphones, which are ok

I really wanted something corded probably to give me maximum sound quality on games like BF2 etc. Knowing which way the enemy is coming from is the main aim.
Noise cancelling isn't important to me
Thanks for your input!

You are welcome :)

Just wondering, is there headphones out there that have 5.1 or 7.1 capability? If there aren't, I doubt headphones are as good as those big 5.1 or 7.1 speakers wired all around your computer. This is because, as you mentioned, you wanted to know where the enemies are. Therefore, a sense of direction is quite important in this context, of which I will go for those surround-sound speakers.

Cheers :)

lol...you've stolen my post!
there are 5.1 headphones which I first wanted.
Now realising that I cannot plug in my surround speakers at the same time as these 5.1 heads, I have decided to get normal plugged headphones. They often have surround like capability.
I have Logitech Thx 5500's 5.1 speakers and theyre brilliant. However, headphones will give me more precision pin pointing the enemy.
NOw can I have my post back :D (or were u saying "i" should go for surround speakers)
