| 463406 | 2006-06-15 21:27:00 | I have recently purchased a LITEON 16xDVD R/RW Drive, mainly so I can use PC World DVDs. :) However, upon installation the BIOS recognises it correctly, it appears in Explorer and everything looks fine except it wont read whats on the CD, not even the Nero one that came with it. Now, Ive installed plenty of CD R/RWs without any trouble but this is my first DVD R/RW. Is there something Im missing? Im wondering about the Drive itself as it came with the Master/Slave jumper set to Slave but I changed that as the drive its replacing was Master. As I understand it the jumpers are set to Master when they leave the factory so Im wondering it this has been returned previously under warranty and just put back on the shelf? Any help appreciated. |

So I tipped it upside down, nothing, gave it a gentle rattle, nothing, so I thought lets try again and you guessed, its going fine . My best guess is that it somehow got bumped in transport and wasnt sitting properly on its internal mounts . I suppose the test is how long will it last? Anyway, I can at least see & use my PC World DVD now . :D |
