| 463359 | 2006-06-15 11:30:00 | I know that profile and settings r located in c/documents and settings/ administrator. But the question how do i back it up on a different HD partiton or on a cd. I tried to copy into different location but says files in use. Plz help |

Plz help I would run the File Transfer Wizard that is available in XP as this backs up all your personal settings, documents etc and is an excellent way to backup these settings. You can then use this file to migrate to a new (or new to you) PC or just simply to hold as backup. The same utility is used to restore same. |

| 463361 | 2006-06-15 21:21:00 | What paul_nz has suggested is correct but make sure that you also make a separate backup of Documents and Settings in case a restore does not work. I know someone who got caught like this and could not access any of his data when the restore failed for some reason. |
