| 464336 | 2006-06-19 01:24:00 | i have a sata hard drive and a sata hard drive&power cable. If i got a SATA2 hard drive, can i use the my current SATA1 cables with the new drive? If so, will the new SATA2 drive run at the lower SATA1 rate? And if i need SATA2 cables does anyone know where in NZ to buy them from? DSE sell the SATA2 hard drives but i can't seem to find any SATA2 cables at DSE. | lance4k (4644) | ||
| 464337 | 2006-06-19 07:21:00 | If the cables fit the connections on the hdd, I cant see why it wouldnt work. It will only run at SATA II speed if the mobo supports SATA 2. If the mobo doesnt support SATA 2, then no, it wont run at SATA 2. It'll run at SATA 1 speed. |
