464292 2006-06-19 00:20:00 Have a dodgy 80 Gig HD on a 3 year old PC (a special build model). It has a second drive – 250 Gig. There was no XP disk supplied.
How can I install XP on the other drive – do I have to purchase a copy?!
Many thanks

464293 2006-06-19 00:30:00 You're going to need a copy of the Windows XP CD whatever happens. If you bought your PC with Windows XP installed, it should have come with the original media (CD), or a reinstall CD that has XP on it. Otherwise go back to the people who you got it from, and hit them up for it.

Remove the original HDD from your system and bin it if it's faulty. If the new HDD is SATA it should detect fine. Chuck the XP CD in (make sure your BIOS settings are set to boot from CD before HDD...it will usually be under 'Boot Order' or 'Boot Sequence' or similar). Press any key to begin the setup. You will need to create a partition on your HDD first of all.
